MugQuest: A Wild Goose Chase
My beloved old Winnie the Pooh travel mug (don't judge me) -- which had faithfully conducted Tasty Caffeinated Beverages to my innards for years -- went on the lam last month. Which wasn't as tragic as it sounds, considering
it was making Ominous Mystery Swishing Sounds when empty, suggesting some sort of hole in the insulation and therefore tossage was imminent, anyway.
But still. No Tasty Caffinated Beverage Delivery Mechanism (especially during meetings!) = Sad Lisa. And lots of urgent Starbucks trips. Enter a fruitless search for a replacement. No good Pooh mugs to be found ... unless I wanted a sippy cup, which would've at least livened up said meetings.
Perhaps something Catholicy? Offerings were either painfully schlocky (written by Jack Handey and designed by Clippy using Microsoft WordArt mashups) or
good designs only available on standard mugs.
Canada goose-themed? While I did find
a few adorable designs at Birdorable, the one I really wanted --
Geese, Love & Understanding -- wasn't available on a travel mug style I liked.
After continually comin' up goose eggs (hah!), I finally gave up and crafted my own goosey design and produced it via
CafePress. The sucker arrived today, and I'm pleased. Nice, solid feel, with bright, crisp colors. And hopefully, there'll be no Ominous Swish Of Death with this'un down the road.
For your viewing enjoyment, here's our Resident Starlet, The Bloop (The B's =^..^= kid sister), modeling the mug (click for larger image):
So, what d'ya think?

Anyone know where can I find this artwork?
Husband Mike and I saw this painting (click for larger) hanging in a retreat center and we would
love to buy a copy. But, after tons o' lots o' searching, I've found nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch.
NOTE: The white circle in the left is from glare; it's not part of the art. Also, this picture is not as wide as the actual piece; this is cropped a bit.
While recently browsing through a Catholic bookstore, we did find a way smaller cropped version with a price sticker on the back that simply said, "Jesus Overlooking Jerusalem", but nothing more.
So, I'm desperate and am tossing this out into the Interwebs in the hopes that someone,
somewhere can point us in the right direction. If you can tell me anything at all about this piece and where I can buy a copy, I'd be eternally grateful!
Update: Just after posting this, pals pointed me in the direction of several sources. The title is, "Christ on Mount Olive", and the artist is listed as "Giovanni".

CFotD: Icon of Joseph's family
Cool Find of the Day: It's not uncommon to see
icons depicting Mary with her parents (traditionally named Joachim and Anne), and there are plenty of beautiful ones out there. But I've never seen one of Joseph with
his parents ... until now.
I was absolutely floored and immensely delighted when I found this icon, "
Family of Saint Joseph".
Beautiful!
I've never ordered anything from outside the US, but I'm seriously considering getting it, along with one of
Mary's family and the
Holy Family itself. I rather like the idea of having the families of Joseph, Mary, and Jesus (the Holy Family), and I also like that it'd result in having three groups of three -- very Trinitarian!
I also adore these two depictions of Joseph
here and
here. And there are also some nice ones of
Saints Francis and Clare ... :-)

Spiffy: Products promoting priestly support
Ya know those ever-present ribbon-shaped car magnets that've popped up everywhere faster'n' dandelions? Well, Husband Mike and I think they're rather ridiculous, but this past Sunday we saw one that actually made us smile in appreciation. (Tho' we ain't buyin' it.)
As we made our way through our parish's parking lot 'afore Mass, we saw one car sporting
this "Support Our Priests" ribbon magnet. Nice!

Spiffy: Catnip toys
Too cute -- check out this adorable
Kitty Market Catnip Toy Set. (Love the cartoony Xs for the fishies' eyes.) If we didn't have so many cat toys underfoot already, I'd seriously consider getting this for the furkids. :-P

Spiffy: Pro-life decal
Last night while flipping through the latest
Leaflet Missal catalog, I was puzzled when I saw
this window decal listed in their pro-life section. I didn't get it at first, but if you look at it long enough, you'll see why. (Or maybe you're smarter than me and will pick up on it right away.)
Brilliant! :-D

Spiffy: Gospel Champions game
Just heard about a spiffy-sounding children's PC game,
Gospel Champions, which "reinforces Gospel and Catholic learning by recreating the same Gospel stories that children hear in Mass into fun action/adventure video games."
Of course, I had to look at the
screen snaps t'see how they portrayed Joseph, Holy Husband of Our Lady and Virginal Father of Jesus ;-) , but alas, nothing's loaded up yet for the two Christmastime ones. Overall, the artwork's done in a cartoony style, which I guess will appeal to the kiddies, but I found it a mite too cutesy.
Still, the premise of the game is excellent, and gosh knows we need all the help we can get to form properly-catechized children nowadays!

Spiffy: Rosary bracelets from Poor Clares
Oooh,
these look loverly! :-D
I found 'em while pokin' around the site of the
Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration (Arizona). If they sound familiar, it's 'cause they're from
Mother Angelica's community!
In addition to the bracelets, they've also got some regular Rosaries. Wish there was a pic of the St. Joseph Rosary -- from the description, it sounds wunnerful. I'm also eyeing the
Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament First Holy Communion Rosary Bracelet -- looks like a great gift idea for my niece, who has a birthday comin' up. ;-)
