No 12 of 12 for October ...

... because I'm a doofus and forgot to bring my camera along! Maybe next month I won't be so absent-minded.

Well, you can always check out Maria's 12 of 12 for October. Fun stuff! :-)

14 September 2006

September 12 of 12

I remembered to bring the camera on 12 September, which means I was able to play along for this month's 12 of 12. (What's 12 of 12?)

So, awaaaay we go:

Hey, get up and feed me!
8:00 a.m.
It's breakfast time! Wake up, Mom! I'm hungry! Mom, you up yet? Helloooo? I'mhungryI'mhungryI'mhungry!

Rainy morning.
8:30 a.m.
Lookin' out through my car's windshield. The day's off to an overcast, drizzly start.

An acorn.
10:00 a.m.
Couldn't think of anything interesting to take a picture of (yeah, like all my other pics were interesting), so here's a snap of an acorn I've placed by my computer monitor at work. I picked it up this past weekend while walking around the grounds of a retreat center. (Was there with my Franciscan brothers and sisters; I'll blog later 'bout the retreat and the acorn.)

Sending a letter.
11:45 a.m.
Getting ready to mail a letter that Husband Mike and I are sending to the Jefferson (Louisiana) Parish District Attorney's office to encourage prosecution of an animal abuse case. (Case details here.)

Swanky new coffee machine at work! Oooooooooh, aaaaaaaaah.
12:00 p.m.
Coffeetime! Our old machine started billowing smoke -- never a good sign -- so we got this brand-spankin' new one! And it's way cool, too -- it even makes mochas! Mmmm ... mochas ...

What? It's only noon?!
12:08 p.m.
Sheesh, is it time to go home yet? :::sigh:::

Reboot, reboot, reboot ...
3:00 p.m.
Installing the latest software build to see what wild and crazy things the developers threw in this time 'round. I so love the constant rebooting required.

Quittin' time!
5:30 p.m.
Woo-hoo! Packing up my oh-so-swanky laptop bag/backpack to head on home.

Heron!
5:40 p.m.
While walking to my car, I saw this lovely heron in the distance. Was too lazy to get closer, so I used the zoom feature. Eh, ya get the idea.

Caution: Your head asplode.
7:00 p.m.
The replacement battery for my work laptop finally arrived. (My laptop was affected by the recent Dell battery recall hoo-ha; joy.) It's hard to see it here, but the list of cautions that came along includes the following: "Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced". =8-O If that don't put da fear o' God in ya, I dunno what will.

Must ... be ... careful ...
7:15 p.m.
Getting ready to replace the battery after carefully reading through all the scary warnings and cautions.

Checkin' out the crucifixes.
10:00 p.m.
My batch of Rosary crucifixes arrived the other day (w00t!), so I'm checking the jump rings to make sure they're 1) actually there (sometimes one or two are missing), and 2) properly attached, using pliers to get 'em into shape when needed.

And there you go. My lovely, mundane 12th of September. :-)

15 August 2006

No 12 of 12 for August ...

Goshdarnitall! I was looking forward to this month's 12 of 12 (on the 12th of each month, you take 12 pictures documenting your day), but wasn't able to play along. I started off the day decently enough, but then we went to a wedding reception and I forgot to bring the camera! :::sob::: So, I only had about 4-5 pictures; not enough for postin'.

Ah, well, at least there's next month. In the meantime, go check out Maria's August 12 of 12 -- fun stuff!

14 July 2006

July 12 of 12

Behold, the mundane minutiae of my day! Yep, it's time for July's 12 of 12.

A cabinet in my cube at work. Ooooh, aaaah.
9:45 a.m.
My morning was pretty much the same as last month's 12 of 12, so this is a shot of a cabinet in my cube at work. Ooooh, aaaah.

Sushi boats floating by.
12:00 p.m.
For lunch, my coworkers and I went to a Japanese restaurant that features a spiffy sushi bar. We contemplate what we'll eat as the little sushi-laden boats float by.

A coworker helpfully points out my sushi choice.
12:10 p.m.
A coworker points out the plate I grabbed. They call it a McHenry roll, but that doesn't sound too Japanese to me. Nonetheless, it's darn tasty.

Preparing a handout for a document review meeting.
2:00 p.m.
Preparing a handout to remind folks about the point of document review meetings, which is to ensure that our user docs are technically accurate, complete, and ready for release. They're not for things like philosophical discussions on punctuation usage. At the last one, folks got sidetracked into a Serious And Involved Discussion on (I kid you not) the proper way to refer to "email."

Driving home from work.
6:30 p.m.
Driving home from work and in a Grumpy Mood following the aforementioned review meeting. This time, we had some last-minute waffling about the way stuff was supposed to work in the software. Two days before our completion date. Must ... have ... ice cream ...

Deciding which flavor of ice cream to buy.
6:45 p.m.
At the grocery store, trying to decide which flavor of ice cream to buy. No time to eat it when I get home, though, because ...

Concert in the park.
7:50 p.m.
... I'm attending an outdoor concert in which Husband Mike (he's a musician) is performing. This group is one of the many bands he's in, and this is their summer concert-in-the-park series. After playing "The Star-Spangled Banner", the program started with a medley of Superman stuff. I especially liked the Pirates of the Caribbean arrangement near the end.

Knotting Rosaries while listening to the concert.
8:15 p.m.
Knotting Rosaries while listening to the concert.

Ice cream!
9:45 p.m.
Finally, I can dig into that ice cream! Husband Mike shows off the flavor I picked, "In A Crunch". I liked it, he thought it was lame. Picky, picky.

Playing with The B.
10:45 p.m.
Playing with The B in the hopes it'll tire him out before we go to sleep. (Didn't work.)

Books to read.
11:00 p.m.
Ah, Husband Mike picked up some books I wanted from the library. (Aunt Dimity and the Deep Blue Sea and The Grail Bird: Hot on the Trail of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker.) What a sweetie!

Brushing my teeth before bed.
11:30 p.m.
:::yawn::: Brushin' my choppers before bed.

12 June 2006

June 12 of 12

I finally remembered to bring my camera with me for this month's 12 of 12 fun! (The concept: On the 12th of each month, you take 12 pictures throughout the the day to show just how boring your life is. Er, I mean, what a typical day is like for you.)

7:02 a.m.: So ... tired ...
7:02 a.m. So ... tired ... St. Joseph, help get my butt outta' bed! (Saints Francis 'n' Clare, I think you'll need to lend a hand.) Hey, looks like Maria and I woke up at the same time! OK, so it's different time zones, but still!

7:04 a.m.: Morning Prayer.
7:04 a.m.: Morning Prayer (Liturgy of the Hours); Franciscans celebrate Blessed Jolenta, Religious (Second Order), today.

8:10 a.m.: The B eatin' breakfast.
8:10 a.m.: Waiting for The B to finish eating breakfast. Why oh why does he wait until I'm Heading Out The Door to have Just One More Bite? (The photo doesn't show my foot tapping impatiently.)

8:30 a.m.: Life in CubeLand.
8:30 a.m.: Windin' my way through CubeLand. And I don't even get a cheese reward at the end. Hmph.

8:31 a.m.: Cubicle, Sweet Cubicle.
8:31 a.m.: Cubicle, Sweet Cubicle. (Yes, that's Strongbad from Homestar Runner on my 'puter wallpaper.)

8:40 a.m.: Coffee!
8:40 a.m.: Joy of joys! Coffee, glorious coffee! Brain cells start perking up in anticipation.

4:50 p.m.: Almost home from work.
4:50 p.m.: Almost home from work. (Quit freakin' out, I pulled over to take the photo.)

5:00 p.m.: Dinner for the furkids.
5:00 p.m.: Preparing dinner for the ravenous furkids.

5:35 p.m.: Pink rosebush.
5:35 p.m.: The weather was so sunny and mild that I just had to squeeze in a quick walk before my Franciscan gathering at 6:30 p.m. Ain't this rosebush divine?

7:40 p.m.: Just before Mass.
7:40 p.m.: Just before the start of Mass with my Secular Franciscan brothers and sisters.

8:35 p.m.: Holy Family sculpture.
8:35 p.m.: I LOVE this sculpture of the Holy Family to the right of the Sanctuary.

8:50 p.m.: Social time!
8:50 p.m.: Social time! We Franciscans know how to "party effectively".

9:15 p.m.: St. Joseph statue.
Bonus Picture: A splendiferous statue of St. Joseph. :-D
